Prepare for birth with prenatal QiGong

Why prenatal QiGong should be a part of your birth preparation

Qi Gong is a holistic exercise practice originating in ancient China. It makes you feel more focused, calmer and at the same time you feel lighter and invigorated. Your mind becomes more concentrated , lingaments and bones get stronger and the blood circulates better in your skin and organs. Your cardiovascular system and digestion are supported and the body´s regeneration is stimulated.

What does that mean for you, mum-to-be?

You practise feeling your body and cultivate relaxed breathing – these are so important during pregnancy, whilst giving birth and later on when you are a mum.

Deep and relaxed breathing gives your unborn child plenty of oxygen. With every breath you nourish also your own body. Relish your breath like am awesome menu.

You will learn to feel your body better and to feel your centre. Whenever you think of your baby you get into your centre. You don´t only feel yourself from the outside but from the inside, for example your pelvic floor. A strong pelvic floor is important for your whole life!

QiGong helps you to stand correctly. You learn to avoid a hyper lordosis during pregnancy and thus avoid  or alleviate back pain. And when you practice the movements you strengthen your tummy, back, pelvic floor, and your leg muscles. Leg muscles are important to prevent phlebitis and varicose veins.

Apart from

  • being light and heavy,
  • opening and closing,
  • stretching and contracting,
  • you learn to hold on and let go.

Letting go is so important during the next years: you hold on to the baby for 9 months and then you let go, you hold on to your child when he is in danger or scared,  you let go when she goes to kindergarten, you let go when he goes to school, when she has her first boyfriend, and when he or she finally leaves your house.

I am looking forward to seeing you at one of my health insurance certified classes at Studio MAMIFLOW.

Yours,

Hannelore (certified QiGong instructor)
